Ode to Nannie Dee (Cutty Sark)

On longitudes did faire ye witch
Set sail from loaded bays
At docks, with tea from China
Where there's a Willis away

Golden threads of history
Weave through her sailing past
Restored from firey beast and loss
While berthed they raised her mast

O Nannie Dee we call to thee
Pooped at Greenwich now
You ship now still, suspended
With splendour neath her bow

Cutty Sark forver!
Hercules Linton, John Willis
State of the artful clever

'She sails' Nan cries, no water
Spirit riding storm on foam
In the fourth dimension, Cyber space
Now she'll always be at home'

Specialist conservation work for the Cutty Sark from the genius of Grimshaw Architects

A few words from Isabella:

Grimshaw Architect’s innovative design raised the Cutty Sark within the dry berth, providing additional and captivating space for visitors under her revolutionary hull. The supporting structure cradles the raised ship’s hull, allowing visitors to view the ship from its underside. There is an enveloping glass canopy that is attached along the ship's waterline, permitting year-round protection to visitors. This air-conditioned, accessible space was perfect for the British Business Club's networking event that I attended on 3rd August 2012.  I feel back in the flow with my lyrics now, after taking a deeper meaning from walking most of the length of the underside of the hull. I'd like to return and walk the whole length as I step more purposely towards making art and sharing constructive news.

The Cutty Sark may be pooped at Greenwich, but on a creative level she sails!!
Why not visit the Cutty Sark? to learn more about her unique story and the gift from the Duke of Edinburgh for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
